Ok, I think the best way to run this blog to and fro will be to have a new page each day. Use that page until I put up a new one. We can chat back and forth on this page and the next day I'll start a new one - or do it the night before - then start using the new one.
Hope that's clear :-)
So here's Tuesday's PGe as a starter :-)
CIU - looking firm today - breakout here. GKN firming at last - broker notes out perhaps
ReplyDeletewhy is CIU getting jiggy after all this time - id love to pile in but it makes me nervous with it being at resistance - vol isnt huge either. Whats the story ?
ReplyDeleteyep JPR should bounce from that shake. RGD is going to pivot here or keep falling, but with numbers out recenly i cant really see it falling.
ReplyDeletecan you set your location as UK / BST Cockers so the time stamp is correct ??
ReplyDeleteSame thoughts here UKI. I sold up with a decent profit a few weeks ago when the bid rumours were around.
ReplyDeleteCIU - it's nearing a breakout imo. when it breaches that high of 276p it's going to clat on by about 10% imo - it's quite illiquid at times - I've been adding a few today.
ReplyDeleteOK - will try to set the time stamp here - "Huston, we have a problem....." :-)
got your mail edcrane - ta :-)
ReplyDeletewill mail you back
started picking up a few HMV now it appears to have stabilised ahead of 5.6 pence dividend payment. Ex date is 29 September. Don't see this sort of yield around much these days
ReplyDeleteA number of US names reporting today are not meeting best expectations or falling slightly short. Maybe a market breather today in the US?
ReplyDeletepossibly edcrane - I thin th indicies are screaming a 4% rise over the next week or so tho so any pull back would be a handy buying point imo
ReplyDeleteHMV - a breach of the little high from a week ago would be a great point to add imo
CR, what's your general view on retailers? Hearing some real 'horror stories' amongst some, particularly things like soft furnishings etc.
ReplyDeletePretty happy with today so far. Thought we'd give back a bit more after yesterday's rise. Bodes well for the near future I say.
ReplyDeleteFunnily enough square1 I have a mate who has a homes furnishing business - he says this is his worst summer ever. Put's it down to World Cup, holiday, Wimbledon, kids off school, hot weather....not a sector that interests me at the moment tho individual retailers may be doing well. Bet DNLM are not going guns blazing now.
ReplyDeleteBetter places to invest imo - business facing like VLX and XPP perhaps?
Yep, portfolio and pension both hitting new highs today Dafydd so I'm a happy Peter Rabbit :-)
ReplyDeleteCheers CR. Agree, actually considering DNLM as a short!!
ReplyDeleteAVN should be interesting into Sept/Oct once satellite launch date confirmed. Took my profit on VLX yesterday :{
CR, like the new blog, especially the idea of a daily page where it looks like you will need to write a few lines to introduce each new day, whereupon everyone can follow on with their general chat.
ReplyDeleteAlso is it your plan to create separate pages for a more detailed summary on specific stocks as per PMP?
If so, looks like a great layout where people can easily find the general chat of the day or look at your more detailed analysis of specific stocks grabbing your attention.
Well done!
Two big buys in ETO (250k and 225k). You have any of these Cockers?
ReplyDeleteyep, that's the plan ossies - a daily page every day and the odd specials (like the black board at a nice restauant) where anything succulent that I see when I'm researching will be posted in order that it doesn't get missed.
ReplyDeleteHope it works :-)
got a few ETO dafydd - off a tad today
ReplyDeleteAny dip in the US will be a goo buy point imo. My bet? It opens down but by 3.00pm it's positive. Don't hold me exactly to 3pm tho - could be five mins either way :-)
ReplyDeleteCR, I am sure it will evolve as you go along. It was hard enough for me to just work out how to post a comment!
ReplyDeleteOne suggestion is perhaps to use dates in your headings like 'Looking ahead' maybe adding w/c.... as it is then easy to see some sort of chronology when looking at the 'blog archive' on the right side of the page.
Anyway, some good large buys just showing in NSR. I hold.
Here's a link to a daily blog that summarises the expectations for the US market. The content is used on Pivotfarm and also Fxdealer I think. A useful summary of data and expectations due. Maybe put a link to it in the sidebar?
ReplyDeleteDamn - forgot the link
ReplyDeletehttp://southfly123.blogspot.com/
Age eh?
TTG setting up for a breakout here imo
ReplyDeleteRight - so two things to do - find how to change the Date/Timeline despite the Help section saying how to do it but proving not possible and find how to add to the sidebar :-)
ReplyDeleteThis from a guy that finds unwrapping a pasty a bit technical :-)
I've fixed the time I think :-)
ReplyDeleteOk, added the soutfly link too - pretty easy this Blogging lark :-) Now it all goes bad :-)
ReplyDeleteThere's probably afew more handy links I have to put up there later
ReplyDeleteBit of a mid afternoon round up.
ReplyDeleteFOUR edging up - results tomorrow
VLX and XPP carry on from where they left off yesterday.
GKN coming good - took it's time.
NSR on the up - results Friday.
YULC up - results 27th
DVO up 10 on results - expect good press to move it further
BBA up a tad - results Thurs
TNI up 4%
Builder firm.
CR
Southfly looks good - and the time is UK too !! Well done Cockers !!
ReplyDeleteNice new site you've got here Rebel, kind of peacefully serene 8-)
ReplyDeleteLooking FOURward to FOUR tomorrow.
all the other housebuilders apart from TW. have lost their gains intraday
ReplyDeleteTa UK-I - hmm, pending home sales didn't come in as good as I hoped and give me the 3.00 bounce I was hoping for :-)
ReplyDeleteOff day all day perhaps in the US then probably but if so, tomorrow's an up day imo.
CR
Glad I sold out of TCY @443p y'day. It still seems that unless results really surpass then there is a good chance of downward pressure.
ReplyDeleteA lot of buying in NXR
ReplyDeletePDG - looks a buy pint on the chart here imo
ReplyDeleteLong PDG - GKN going for it towards the close
ReplyDelete1150 GMT [Dow Jones] Altium raises Trinity Mirror (TNI.LN) price target to 180p from 175p after interim results. The results exceed market expectations due to a better than expected contribution from the GMG Regional Media titles acquired in 1Q, better cost control and a lower-than-forecast interest charge. In revenue terms, Altium says the performance is mixed, with national and regional titles posting declines of 3% and 5% respectively. Altium is encouraged by the 2.2% increase in national advertising revenues, although the regional portfolio lags. The brokerage says Trinity remains modestly valued. Buy rating. Shares +3.8% at 108.5p. (andrea.tryphonides@dowjones.com)
ReplyDeleteAfter hours aquisition in HMV reported, 1.1m shares. I wonder if that's the reason for the recent rise or if the price has been suppressed to fill the order? Hope it's the latter.
ReplyDeleteSome big buying on NBPO in the last 15 minutes. Results in 4 weeks.
ReplyDeleteHi guys -
ReplyDeleteOK - I'm back on the ADVFN thread and think I've come up with what should be an effective mecanism to deal with trendfloor.
Having gone to the trouble of setting up this blogg I think I'll keep it going but it's probably going to be a place to to have some more in-depth stuff rather than the 'heads-up' one liners that are useful on ADVFN.
I'll keep putting up a daily page for anyone that whats to talk and don't want their post lost amonngst the one-liners that scroll through on ADVFN so much.
Thanks for your support over the past day or two and been interesting to put abit more detail to a few posters :-)
NBPO - I think palm oil is on the up too Chas.
thanks sja :-)
Yep, builders are a right trader's sector UK-I - on up days in the market they are up sharp, down days they are down - ther are a pure trading proxy for sentiment imo.
A decent day today - Pensions and Portfolio hit new highs - wich is nice - thanks to XPP, VLX, GKN, TNI and CIU mainly. GKN the second largest mover in the 350.
ReplyDeleteCKSN up nice ahead of tomorrows results, LRD carried on the rally.
A better day tomorrow I feel.
CR
CR, you posted a few days ago about WGB. Just looked at them today, last year profit was about £1.5m, 0.5m in first half, 1m in second half (roughly). Debt halved so should affect bottom line. This year hopefully should be 1m+ per half and directors bought at 33p. Looks another steady boring share like LEE IMO. Is this similar to your thoughts or is there something I`m missing? :)
ReplyDeleteDoh, just read statement, looks a no brainer, upgrade my 1m+ per half :)
